Cottage Beck Café Church is committed to peace, wellbeing and justice for everyone.
We believe that there is only one church in Scunthorpe, but there are many expressions of it and we want to draw attention to some of the work that is happening in the community, and the congregations and other groups who are leading the initiatives. The following are just some of the local and global community creative events that we highlight or support in one way or another.

A couple of years ago Cottage Beck Café Church signed up to the ‘A Just Peace for Palestine’ initiative which is now called ‘Kairos Britain’, heeding the call from the Christians of Palestine – more information here – http://www.kairosbritain.org.uk
‘Gifted’ provides a safe and supportive environment where women with life-controlling issues can receive love, value and acceptance and begin living in a hopeful and positive way. www.youareagift.org
Street Pastors North Lincs started in 2009, when local congregations sent volunteers out onto the streets on Saturday nights from 10pm to 4am to work alongside the pubs and clubs, the local authority, and the police to do whatever they could to help people stay safe while they enjoy a good night out. http://scunthorpestreetpastors.co.uk … read more »

In 2009 Café Church leaders travelled to Durban, South Africa, to witness the Umthombo Street Kids programme – since then there has been ongoing fundraising to provide soft furnishings for Umthombo’s Safe Space centre. http://www.umthombo.org
Scunthorpe Baptist Church, in partnership with The Trussell Trust, has created Scunthorpe Foodbank. The Foodbank became operational in July 2010. This is an exciting initiative for North Lincolnshire and has already had a beneficial impact on the most needy people in our community with over 3,000 adults and children fed in our first 30 months… read more »
